Thirty Days of Thankful

Tonight we celebrated having power restored to our home. It’s been a tough 4 days going without. Despite living in New England for most of my life, I don’t think I’ve ever seen snow before Halloween. And certainly not a foot! We got so much snow that Halloween was postponed until the 6th. I’m not happy about that. I mean, I’m going to be in the throes of Christmas planning in a week or so! I saw Santa in the mall today…meaning the Christmas season has arrived! My favorite time of year…

Oh, but there is a holiday in between. The poor, red-headed stepchild we call a Thanksgiving. Since Christmas starts sometime after Easter in the retail world, no one seems to give a turkey leg about Thanksgiving. I’m going to try harder. I need to be reminded that every day should be a day I give thanks for something. I’m starting today and will hopefully make it to 30 days.

Today I am thankful for technology. My trusty smartphone got me through the power outage by letting me text all of my friends. My e-reader kept me from going insane at night while it was dark, and cold, and…dark. My car got me to a doc appointment for Little One without a glitch in the navigation, and at the appointment I got to see the 3-D image of his skull. It was amazing. Technology is a huge part of my life and I am thankful it exists!
